SODA

India ink portrait of David Solomon, aka "SODA", a New Yorker cop (from the Franco-Belgian comic of the same name). I looooove this series. 12 volumes (and, unfortunately, doesn't seem we'll have a 13th one some day). Made from the cover of the 8th "Tuez en paix" (="Kill in peace").

The dear ginger David is a real "kick ass", as you say. The kind of guy you don't want mess up with. He is a very effective and deadly cop, misanthropic and disillusioned by all he saw and lived.

But he can be also very human, especially with his old mum. Mrs Solomon is a widow ; David's father was a cop from the Providence county's Police Department and he was killed doing his job. Since this tragedy, Mrs Solomon is very afraid that his son could have the same destiny. And because she is cardiac too, David decided to hide his real job and made her believe that he is in fact a calm and peaceful priest... which creates sometimes difficult situations for him !

That's why he wears a white priest collar and a cross on the drawing. And he wears a glove in his left hand, because he lost two fingers one day (we still don't know how in the series).

The drawings of this series seem very "cartoon", but they are not exactly for little children ! Some images with google : [link]
